anyone in this field? Given you can glue a rib together, is there something that will glue canvas/canvas or canvas/hook and loop, and remains flexible and water resistant?
There's a glue divers use called "Aquasure", for mending wetsuits. It's super strong, flexible and waterproof, but it's not a contact adhesive, so you have to hold the join together for 24 hrs. I use it for fixing all kinds of things. Also seen it called "Stormsure", and i'd guess there's an industrial version of it
One of the best glues available is CT1, not readily available so if you want some and can't get it I could point you in the right direction. Your local builder suppliers should have it and it comes in several colours.
It is a bit like Sikaflex but can be used on wet surfaces and even underwater. It is much stronger and we now use it as the glue of choice for repairing ribs when the makers stuff fails. Good for keel joints too and leaking gutters!
I did a test recently by glueing various materials together with a whole selection of different glues then trying to tear them apart after curing. CT1 was the only glue that did not detach from the material. To get the bits apart I had to actually tear the glue leaving glue remaining on the surfaces, and it took a lot of force to do that!!

PS I have no commercial interest in CT1 - just enjoy using it.
