I don't know why but whenever I have had a boat in transit by road, I've always worried myself sick about damage, what will happen if a strap breaks on the crane (i've seen the U tube vid's!) and so on..
So very happy to say that my new boat arrived safely in Lossiemouth today and I really should not have worried.
Arriving at Lossie ... never had a "wide load" before
Lossie has a "Sublift" hoist and there were potential issues about using it to unload the boat. However I had explained the problems to the haulier, who had had previous experience of these types of hoists, and so he had instructed the driver to load the boat well to the rear of the trailer.... and we had no problems
Once she was lifted off the trailer, the boat was put on the ground while the hoist turned around to lift Alucia again and put her in the shed.
Now i can work on her for a week, out of the rain and snow (yes we woke up to a white covering on Monday and it's still 'uking cold!) before the coding survey.
If anyone is looking to transport a boat I can totally recommend John Shepherd Boat Transport. Good communications, friendly and very, very professional.
She'll move up to her new home (or hame) port of Banff in a couple of weeks... hopefully just in time for summer!
