would think that there was a tug made fast on the port side...best way to manouver in confined spaces...

Can just see the tugs "Christmas Tree" over the solar pannels on the aft accom block of the light ship.

At the risk of being out-of-date or somesuch, I thought that light vessels were always towed into position as they have no propulsion of their own. Wasn't this why the crew of one of the Goodwin LVs were killed when the mooring parted/dragged and she ended on her side on the sand in the 1950's? Do they now have their own proplusion?

we completely faied to see the ship on her stbd side but it did look queer

Yep, we was sailing back down the Stour, looked like she was under her own steam, but as she turned up the stour, the tug tied along the Starboard side reconciled the speculation.

Thought I spotted JB crossing the harbour, but we were a fair way up the Stour at the time, so couldn't be sure.
