This was my first time changing controls. The hole left by the old throttles needed altering which was no drama but as cables etc…where already in place, it was a proper pain of a job due to not having tons of cable slack. Lower helm was much easier but upper helm was a right pain due to access. Who needs skin covering their knuckles anyway.

Both of my helms originally came with MT3s, the flybridge ones were in poor shape and wouldn't stay where you put them, i managed to find a more modern set on Ebay. The lower helm ones look better, buy also don't stay put very well, so this post was a timely reminder to get some new ones. £99 sounds like a good deal, so i ordered a set (y)
 
An early and cold start this morning for my trip to bring her ashore

-2.5c but flat calm. Diesel heaters are the best!

So where I boat is very limited in both harbour facilities and decent shoreside space. No travelhoist and only 2 cranes big enough to lift this size boat (which is not that big lets be honest)

So this time, im trying a local shipyard and a trolley on a slip. They have previously manily focused on big commercial stuff but are starting to do more leisure stuff.

The capacity of these things is measured in 10’s of tons not kg for sure! The guys did a great job getting it setup and covering lots of it with carpet so it was more gentle on the fragile grp (more fragile than the monsters they often put on the cradles!

Had a lovely run and headed into the harbour. Getting onto the cradle was a very calm affair. Drive in between the dolphins and adjust position by hand ensuring the shafts wont foul. Whats nice is the pull ashore is so controlled and you can stop whenever. Floating….touching at the bow….touching more etc….

I hare crane lifts so this was a much better experience!

That was all photos before a blast off. All in all, a very successful and surprisingly chilled day. Shafts and props getting pulled along with cutlass bearings so lets see whats found in the coming week! Keep your fingers crossed for me its not going to hammer the wallet too hard…….but i fear it might 🤣

I hate the whole process of the boat being lifted! When you hand over the care of your prized asset to others and have limited control yourself! 😳 Although to be fair, the guys doing it are usually very good at what they do!
 
Shipyard update….

Props where off the afternoon it came out and are going out for assessment and refurb

Some play in port cutlass and starboard delaminated. Shafts will be out monday so thats the day we know the full extend of the drama! Im glad things have been found. They are indeed exhaust outlets to divert downwards. Having had the same boat without them fitted…..i love them!

There are no silencers fitted (on any sedan 36 from oe anyway) so they are straight through exhausts in effect. Lovely sound in the marina…..gets old fast at speed. This boat is soooooo much quieter! Looks wise…….they live underwater so who cares! Work a treat
 
Good work. Not easy tasks these. I assume you have suppliers in mind for replacements of the cutless bearings, but in case needed try
