A Lot Of Boat For Your Bucks

Anyone contemplating buying this should be made to read Last Voyage by Ann Davison first.

Great warning story that. What I couldn't get over was that she then bought an 23 footer & sailed it solo across the Atlantic (first female solo crossing) Probably one of the slowest ever too, she hove-to for a good sleep every night! Read "My Boat is So Small" by Ann Davison.

Could be Alexander Noble of Girvan and maybe registered in Buckie. Lots of Alexanders in Scotland, and lots of well respected yards.

From what I remember of seeing her in Preston 5years ago she might well be a Nobles of Fraserburgh build. Might have been built for an Alexander family in Gardenstown(Gamrie). Picqued my interest now. I'll try to find out!

Incidentally,if anyone's got an old Olsen's Nautical Almanac, she'll probably be in that.

Just a few weekends work Here

Boat projects like these are what causes Divorces! Afriend called Greg Kelchner in Florida bought a 60ft wooden yacht for just £10,000 dollars. a yacht that was presented to the commodore of the New York YC in early 60's He spent a year on it and its still got a way to go. He is a Marine Engineer who charges $75 per hour.

Luckily he married a 30 year old who thinks he is gods gift to earth.

There are probably still ex-fishing boats, just finished work, so seaworthy, and cheap. French built 55ft trawler in Newlyn went for £1, owner failed to pick up, so dismantled. I posted before about the 90ft steel beamer, £8000, the winch was sold for £7000, there was £3000 of fuel aboard. She has been refitted for crabbing.
No need to buy a lost cause like that.

You have until 4th January to snap up one of these bargains http://www.exeter.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=13360&p=0 (I was down there Sunday and "Ndito" looks to only be of interest to scrap dealers!)

I was on day dream a couple of weeks ago, I was thinking of putting an offer in on her...that was untill I went inside, was a mess, she was at one time completly filled with rain water, hence the hole drilled in the side of the keel to let the water out.
couldn't make my mind up as to what class sea is/was, any idea's.
regards rachel.
