Checked my Inbox and there was a message there with the subject 'XP Patch' from someone called Aquaholic. Opended it up and it was indeed from our friend Cuteyholic asking why I had sent him an e-mail with a word document attached (fortunately nothing pervy). What's weird is that.....

a) I didn't send him an e-mail as I was at work when it was supposed to have been sent.
b) I possibly sent him an e-mail about 3 years ago. Since then I have bought a new PC.
c) His E-mail address is not on my PC (nor in my Hotmail account).
d) The attachment that he received is not on my PC (apparently it was a letter I wrote to Haven).
e) I regularly update the Virus list on my PC and my PC remain clean.

Is it possible that Hotmail has delivered a mail that I sent three years ago and re-named it? Anyone got a better theory?

I got something very simillar a few weeks ago. Looked to come from my sister. Luckily Mr Norton spotted it. It was a virus.

very, very, unlikely that hotmail delivered an email that late. servers would have wiped it years ago. they don't hold messages that long

possible that he got an email from someone with similar name or address

possible that you got an email from someone with similar name or address

possible to spoof names and IP addresses, so looks like it came from you or vs versa
