Adrian I believe this idea is to reduce/eliminate galvanic action in the tanks, which, being aluminium can be very susceptible.

I have plastic tanks on my P34; one outboard of each engine, 350 litres each.

I wouldn't have thought that there could be much in the way of galvanic reaction if the sender was properly insulated and the duration the ignition is on is short anyway, but it's an interesting thought.

Plastics Tanks were on my P32 as well - 2 x 320L.

Prestige 32 advice

Hi there

Having a few problems creating a new thread so hope you don't mind me using this thread but have been reading through it and really good advice from people with first hand experience.

I currently have a Beneteau Antares 760. I bought her new in 2005 and I am very pleased with her. I love fishing so most of my time is out on her fishing. I have always fancied a Fly Bridge cruiser and I am now thinking that it may be a good time to upgrade. I have looked at the Antares Series 9 and 980 but they are similar to the one I have now. (Just a bit bigger). I then looked at the Prestige 32 and like Paul thought Wow, very nice.

I have been looking around and I now have the chance of a Prestige 32 (2005 model) with twin Volvo D4 260 engines.

I have never been concerned about fuel consumption on my Antares 760 and something I do not even monitor, but now as I am just about to put down a deposit on the P32 I have a couple of concerns:-

I enjoy fishing, will the Prestige 32 with Teak deck be suitable for fishing. Deck and Space?
What will the fuel consumption be, will it be a massive increase to my Antares?

I am very much hoping that you will share your experiences and give me some advice as in one breath I do not want to miss out on the one I have the chance of but at the same time I do not want to buy her and find that the Antares was a better / more practical boat for myself?

We had one for about 3 years - see your other post for Fuel cons etc. Regards fishing - I guess you could do it, but the get the P32 2006 on which had a larger swim platform. The ones before that date are relatively short. For example, you might just get a deck chair on there to face out but your feet would (from memory) be dangling over the briny. The other neg for fishing might be that the overhead roof of the FB covers most of the cockpit (from memory) so you may find rod space overhead a restricted. That and the fact that the seats all look inwards! There is no reason you couldn't fish from one, but perhaps a Rodman, Starfisher or Merryfisher might suit you better. IMO the Prestige is designed with cruising in mind as I am sure you know. More sun bathing than fishing!!

Teak deck doesn't sound ideal if you'll be getting fish blood and guts on it, as you'll be forever cleaning it.

My 805 seating is facing the same way as the P32, we remove the covers and use the seating as a table and sit on a deckchair to face rearwards, or stand. I didn't see the roof as a problem either, boat rods are pretty short and we don't do much in the way of casting.

Ah.. fair point I guess, I only ever really messed with fishing for Mackerel. I am sure I have seen some guys sat in deck chairs (smooth sea mind) on the SPs with rods in hand

Seriously though, if you as a more serious Angler have sized all this up and are convinced it all works - then the OP should be fine.

Stumbled across this thread and read from start to finish I'd love to know if Paul ever got the P32 I'm looking at one myself this weekend!!
