After reading some of the posts recently, my mate and I have decided it might be a good idea to follow the example of some forumites and get a 2nd little boat for those times when we can't get down to the 'flagship' but still want to 'wet our bottoms' (his phrase, not mine - well, he is a 'raggie' after all!) for a couple of hours. We have been looking at ebay and the classifieds and have seen quite a few little speedboats such as Pictons, Brooms and Fletchers. We haven't yet gone as far as to pay a visit to the sellers, but thats just a matter of time. Anyone out there got any comments/advice about the different makes? We are looking for an outboard set-up, probably around 16 ft long.

You cant go wrong with a Fletcher really. I`ve had several and they have all been good boats. Try and get one with a recent outboard as the old ones tend to suffer from lack of use and forgetting to flush etc. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Fletchers are decent solid boats. Early ones (approx pre 1990) have low freeboard, which makes them interesting in any kind of waves. The hull however is excellent and they are great fun.

I think a Rib at this size does make more sense on the sea, or if you want a little more comfort (and a slightly larger budget) something like a Jeanneau Cap Camerat or Quicksilver Commander.
