I don't know the answer to your question but as I have a 2GM20 in a Macwester 30 I will be interested to read any replies. A word of warning. A pal of mine replaced the Vetus mounts on his 3 cylinder diesel in his yacht. They were the soft mounts that have some sort of liquid encapsulated in them and the liquid had come out of one of them. He went the cheap option and bought the mounts that are not as soft. Result is much more noise and vibration. I think the price difference was about £120 against £50 but I am not sure. Advice is to make sure you get the best mounts for your purpose. I would talk to Barrus, the Yanmar distributor to see what they recommend, they will be at the boat show.

i balked at buying the pukka yanmar spare part for my gm20, and a yanmar agent made up some alternatives which were a lot cheaper. he fabricated some spacers which made up for the different hole spacing on the new mounts and also for their less height. the new mounts were some pattern items from a major manufacturer.

the arrangement has worked well over 4 years. the mounts are a bit harder, but i dont think there is much of an increase in noise or vibration.

if you want the name of the outfit, pm me

friends of ours fitted non-standard mounts and had a leak because they were too soft & the thrust caused everything to move forward, opening the shaft seal.

I know what you infer about the price but
I'd be very careful about replacing the Yanmar mounts with ones which are much cheaper - the outcomes can be pretty far-reaching.

Try the following two people for mounts:

John Skues
Cellar Marine Garage
Penhallow, Helston.
Cornwall

Don Evans
Broadheath
Tenbury Wells
Worcester WR15 8QX

R&D Luton ..tell your engineer thats what you want ..and dont let him fob you off with any old loading..too much vibration is because the bearers are too hard ..and you arent fitting them to 500horses! ..make sure he gets the right ones .........in fact if he hasnt got a brochure ..make him get one ..(R&D are the people that make the flexible couplings that go between the engine flange and the shaft flange..and lots and lots of engine bearers at about 1/4 of the price!) I used 2 prs of the lowest 2 ratings on a GM13 ...very very smooth ..and NOTE..the bearers are not the same all round !"

TRy Trelleborg for Anti-vibration mounts - they took over Metalastik who made 'Cushyfoot' mounts - often used on engine mounts.
www.trelleborg.com and look under industrial avs.
They are much cheaper then manufacturers and are probably supplied by them, but not sure if they a 'filled' one as other posts suggests
Also try VETUS who also supply mounts

Thanks for your suggestions, I tried my local canal chandlery and they supplied me with genuine Yanmar mounts at a very reasonable price, apparantley when they fit Yanmars to the canal boats they do not use the original soft mounts?!?!
