Has anyone done an ICC or Day skipper course with their family i.e. husband, wife and kids.
How easy did you find it or did your normal family pecking order prevailed on the boat, i.e. parents telling kids what to do, husband back seat driving etc,and how did your instructor handle this?

Do you think it would have been better to have done a couple of day’s tuition separately and then joined on one boat for the final day/s?

Would the wives have been better doing a ladies only course?
thanks
I would like to know from the students view point what they felt.

Why not hand out a proforma requesting students to give you honest feed back on the course, and suggestions for improvement or changes when your courses have finished.

Yes My Wife and i did our PB2 training together with 7 other students, We used 3 Ribs my wife and i were on 1 together with the instructor.
We got on fine, I Don't think i butted in at all, cause the instructor had everyone in their places.
My wife was far better at the MOB than myself, but i was better at the high speed handling.
I did take some stick from the instructors and other students on the weekend, about the MOB.
But i am glad she wanted to do the training with me, And we plan on doing further training together. It is a joint hobbie.
The only problem now is when we arrive at the marina we now have a race to see whos first to get to the helm./forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Cheers.

like alistairr, there were more than us on the course, and we got swapped around a bit, which worked well. Kids may well prefer their sense of individual learning, rather than under their parents gaze. Wouldnt say the course is stressful, but making a mess of docking for example might be easier with people they dont know than with their dad?
