2009 plans

Hi

Deben to Den Helder, then Frisian Islands. There, told everyone, so it wont happen

We're the M28 moored at the Ferry, so wave if you see us

Rob

Did the Northern Holland trip this summer and kind of fancy getting further along Northern France than with the last boat (only got to Honfleur). Channel Islands would be good.
BTW Neil, if you want to borrow any Dutch charts, almanacs etc, let us know.
Cheers

Well I was planning Holland. Bought the Dutch pilot and well under way with negotiations to borrow or purchase charts, essential books written in Dutch, latest edition of CEVNE etc, then I read all this stuff about holding tanks!

Might be necessary to do some re-thinking.

There is a shorter route to Calais Peter! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm impressed with all this. I was just planning to have a plan and that exhausted me. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'm getting a holding tank when the marina gets a pump-out facility.

My plan is to counter all the boats coming this way and head to Harwich! Anyone want to swap last years Dutch almanac (parts I & II) for charts of the East Coast?

I think it is called the 'round in circles' route but it is not listed in your book for some reason or other!

Don't want to sail to somewhere 500 miles away (Norway) as then have to sail back so looks like Hartlepool as a destination, round the approach buoy and back! Just got to dodge the gas platforms and support ships. Think I will need a very big jar of strong coffee onboard. Also as going sort of parallel to coast I have bolt holes left open to me that are not too far away should there be a problem.

Trying to convince SWMBO that a shake down cruise to Belfast is a good idea to see family make sure boat is ok. She has almost agreed. next thing is clockwise or anti clockwise erring to up the east coast but who knows may just strike out for the Med.

Well thats the dreaming over so apart from wanting to do Oostende again this year and perhaps from there N Holland no plans at present.

I think we'll stay on the E.Coast in 2009. Did a long Holland trip in 2008.
Incidentally I'm puzzled at the stuff on the RYA site about holding tanks in Dutch waters, mentioned in this thread. I knew there was legislation coming but I understood that initially it would only apply to Dutch-registered boats.
I have queried it with the RYA today but the person concerned is off until after Christmas.

Option A
Singlehanded from Harwich to Southwold, Lowestoft, Wells - anchoring in the reefs at Sea Palling if settled.

Option B
Singlehanding to Hellevoetsluis Middleburg Flushing Harwich.

Depends on the weather really. Although I enjoy singlehanding it is always nice to sail in company with other boats for a bit of socialising/boozing/talking cobblers in the evening. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Happy Christmas
