2000 Princess 460 opinions....

Hello to all,

I currently own a 2006 Cranchi 41 Endurance, and during a conversation with my agent, I can easily (not sure yet) part exchange-upgrade to a 2000 Princess 460 with the following specs:

The Princess 460 was stopped in production in 1999 replaced by the 45.

Lovely boat and unlike some other Olesinski hulls run low in the water.
What looks old IMO is the sweeping shear line.
Princess build quality of the time is good, altough gelcoat in sunny areas on topsides will craze, and engine room space is tight.
They also tend to have water ingress around the windscreen at over ten years.

Unless it is a very good price the Fairline Phantom 46 would be my choice in this segment. (possibly one of Fairline's (if not the) best looking flybridges).

This is example is nice cause it is one of the few I saw powered with the T74 480 engines.

Not sure there is any such thing as a bad princess really. Sounds lovely to me. Probably only thing to make sure of are the engines. Someone will confirm or know better than I, but those engines were into the early stages of complexity for the VP’s, compared to the older tamd’s at least. May have an ecu and fly by wire Perhaps

The TAMD 74 was quite short lived and replaced by the 75 due to 74s smokeyness. Same horsepower but much cleaner exhaust.

I had 74ps in my previous boat, only slight smoke on start up and a 1000 trouble free hours.

I have 74s and they are not Smokey at all. The 480 hp not the 430hp version and 74s can be either maybe the 430 is smokier??. Volvo Paul will know the difference but they seem like the 75 to me. Smooth quiet and pokey.

These were the 480hp and definately blacked the transoms of several boats some unhappy customers. smooth and quiet and smokey!
You must have been one of the lucky ones.

I managed a couple of boats with 74s. If you give them the right diesel they do not black the transom.
While I do agree the 75 smokes a bit less the difference is only noticeable in cold starts.
Smokey is an over statement for this engine.
