The new law that's already happened, in that no new 2 stroke outboards can be imported to the UK, will seriously affect many boaters. 2 stroke outboards can still be purchased till they run out, then it's 4 stroke only.
4 stroke are much heavier, & can't lie on their sides or the oil spills out - not great for yotties, most don't have davits, so outboards are lifted about. Not a great for any boaters really, as specialist equipment that holds the 4 stroke outboard upright at all times will be needed.
Most outboard users only put in their outboards 1 or 2 gallons of petrol per year, hardly a gross impact on the environment. Alternatively there's now going to be many, many gallons of oil spilt in to our waterways, plus the problem of the used to be changed probably yearly.
