I once borroed a mates Seagull Featherweight & attached it to a Wayfarer. I would not push against a 1 Knot tide. Supposedly rated at 1.5 HP I can't say I was impressed.

I aint supprised it wouldn't! A Wayfarer is just a bit big for a featherweight! A 40+ would have coped alright, and a Silver Century would have been a bit nearer what you should have been using.
Seagull, stopped rating their outboards by horsepower, and went over to a description based on thrust at the prop, but the exact nature of that description escapes me at the moment. The horsepower rating always was a bit spurious.
Yes but have you seen the size & weight of a Forty Plus or Silver Century when compared to a Honda 2HP. Plus you have to muck about with mixing that Oil.
Give me the 4 Stroke anytime.
When I get into an 8 foot Flubber it has 10mm freeboard & takes on the handling characteristics of a Supertanker. I would need a pair of 250HP's to get it to plane.
