2 feet away from disaster

I have a Garmin Striker Fishfinder for a depth gauge. I don't do fishing but useful primarily for the above type of situation . The pretty colour pictures you get are a big help in determining the kind of bottom. Unfortunately, the transducer is the transom type. Mine works ok in the outboard well.

Have you ever tried it through the hull like a ‘normal’ transducer?

I admit I have not even though I have a supposed transom mounted fish finder (lowrance?now in a box in storage that I cannot find) that I have used attached to a pole at the bow ! Yes the bow.

Great piece of kit as you say showing depth deviations.

Wish I could find it to use again (moving houses and boats can lead to unlabelled boxes).

So lucky I did not hit my rudder or keels on these rocks, and so unlucky that I managed to find the only patch of rocks in the entire bay.

Buy a lottery ticket soon.

If you win, feel free to give me a tiny commission if I influenced you into buying a ticket and you win large.

I don’t do the lottery myself, but I have not had a near miss as your photo shows either.

Are they stones from ballast used in sailing cargo boats….odd a pile of stones on a sandy beach ?
Interesting question.

But why so few? Others sunk?

Is that another single rock just off the starboard bow (of the photo, not the boat)?

Or the 2 o’clock position of the photo?
