Guys,

Looking to replace the front two oil pipes on my Yanmar 1GM10 (corroded), any one know of a better alternative to the Yanmar spares (mild steel pipes) that will cost aprox £100 to replace?

Cheers Cliff.

Second that, any hyd. firm will make them.

[/ QUOTE ]I am keeping an eye on mine - OK at the moment but will probably need replacing sooner rather than later. I have been advised that if you go the flexible hydraulic pipe rout you need to allow a bit of etra lenght because the pipe won't allow the small radius bends that are in the steel pipes.

Cliff,
1GM10 oil pipe.

Mine rusted through at the beginning of the third season, emptying the sump and filling the bilge with oil (luckily discovered before damage to the engine). I bought a spare from the YANMAR distributor to get me away immediately (£65) and then took the old pipe to a diesel service company to have a new pipe made up with the old banjo fittings and a length of monel (nickel/copper alloy) pipe - as used for replacement automotive brake pipes (£27). As yet, the steel pipe is OK , but I carry the replacement as a spare and will probably fit it this winter.

Same problem last year so as mentioned on here went to Hydraulics firm who made up a replacement out of hose with banjos for about £25. Mines a 1GM and found getting the banjos bolted to engine was a swine. A bit of extra length over original would help or maybe an elbow at 45 degrees.

Where are you, I had 2 sets made by http://www.manflex.co.uk/ . They built them in the shop while I waited, all up it was under £30 for the 4 pipes. The lower pipes I had built with stainless reinforcement, as like brake pipes on performance systems. I would have had all four done this way but we had already built the short pipes.

I only had to replace on one engine so have a nice spare set should the other decide to go.

It is the two that run under the sump that give the 'problems'.

Manflex are in Warrington, Town of North, Uk.
