Hi there,
Is anyone familiar with the impeller in this little monkey? I bought one off ebay recently and ran it up in a wheely bin. It seemed to be running too hot (just as I was thinking that it packed up, accompanied by a smell of burnt rubber).
There didn't seem to be a spray coming out with the exhaust gasses. I haven't started it since, but took the leg off last night.
See the pics here of the new impeller and the old one, along with the housing:

The guy who supplied the outboard also supplied the spare impeller - does the size look right? I have to bend the blades to get it to fit - doesn't look like it'll run freely. I have no idea if it ran ok before, and if so for how long...
The bush in the picture is slightly melted, but still would seem to fit.
I'm off to buy some liquid gasket, I'll take the head off and clean what I can see of the water passages. The pipe sticking up the leg looks free from debris - as does all the other openings. When it was running the engine sounded ok, if a bit smokey (grey).
Any advice appreciated! I have a manual that came with it a 1972 version - seems to be accurate for this model so far.
Thanks in advance!
