12v TV

I have a Kuoni and it is good apart from not being viewable at more than 45 degrees fron head on. Something to consider. I suspect some use a lot more powerthan others.

We went to curry’s and looked at a number, many of the smaller 22 and 24”screens had power adapters and were actually 12v DC anyway, as above chopped of lead and wired direct, works perfect. I think the only main difference with caravan ones apart from price is some have easier digital tuning and memory’s to hold different locations.

I have an off the shelf Samsung 24" TV from the likes of Currys, it has a "power brick" in line and is actually 14V. No point my posting the model, as it' no longer current.

I found that a useful way of working out possible TVs from the armchair is to look at what's currently available, the look up the power cable, if it's just a cable, probably no good. If it says 220V/230V in, xxDC out, you're in luck. 14V is no problem on a boat, it'll likely run straight from 12V, but i wanted to give mine a nice stable 14V, rather than 12.xx one minute and 14.xx next, when the charger goes on or the engine starts, so i use a DC-DC converter. % years later, all good.

I also have a Samsung soundbar, also 14V and also happy with a second DC-DC converter.

That’s what we got too, works fine off 12v too. Check eBay maybe?

12v TVs frequently appear in Lidle/Aldi, but without the caravan (or boat )premium added by dedicated caravan or chandlery outlets.
You do not even have to visit , usually available on their websites as well.

I've got a manta 15 inch with dad player from amazon quite a few years ago. Runs of 12 volt but has a 12v to 12v sine converter looking at the markings. Like a few others the viewing angle is small. Next tv maybe a small (24 inch?) domestic unit with a 12 to 240 volt inverter. I really ought to put a decent aerial up the mast as the small dumpy one supplied sometimes struggle to get a signal.

Cello/Ferguson smart tv. Can go online with WiFi. My hatch leaked and dripped all over it but it still works !

Win-TV USB tuner on laptop. I could put the VGA output to larger monitor, if I wanted, but close up it's big enough. Does for e-mail, web browsing, navigation, TV, DVD viewing, and saves having any more kit onboard.

Surprised no one has mentioned Avtex, bit more expensive, self tuning helps a lot, had several over the years, always been more than pleased, used in conjunction with the Avtex aerial, never needed to fit a permanent one.
