1 inch taper steering wheel

i am trying to restore a Scorsby motor launch and I am having great trouble in locating a steering wheel for a 1 inch taper mechanical steering system. I am told the system is obsolete and everyone now uses 3/4 inch. Does anyone have or know of a place I can get a steering wheel with a 1 inch taper bore?

Is there some reason why you can't just get a wheel with a 3/4" bore and get a machine shop to open it out to 1"? Alternatively, get same machine shop to turn down the shaft to 3/4". It's usually easier to put a keway into a shaft than a hole.
