Interesting to put the running cost in the context of capital cost: "I don't think anyone is not going to buy or use their dream boat, which could have cost around £150,000, because of an increase of around £2,000 per annum".

I was also taken by the similarity of the Ancasta usage estimates to those of the MBM forum members ie five and a half thousand litres for 60 hours of running per annum.

Given that many raggie forumites will sail over 60 days each year (using about as many litres of diesel), albeit more slowly, I am amazed that people are prepared to pay such impressive figures for a mere 60 hours. Each to their own I suppose.

the added cost for an average use......................................... For a sailboat, it's nearer £216 per annum

Bloody hell! Don't any of the "sailboats" they sell ever sail???

If they said the average cost for a sailboat would increase to £216 per annum, I might just stop and think they might be close......... but the added cost???

£216 would keep me going for 3 or 4 years! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Waw - there's more money about then I thought.
The average Ancasta boat sells for 150K - I'm a pauper - only paid 75K for Guapa, and I think that's a lot of money /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You know, I've been thinking about this 5,400 litres of diesel in order to drive a 38ft £150k MOBO for 60 hours each year.

In terms of diesel consumption, that's roughly the equivalent of my car doing nearly 64,000 miles in a year. Or is my maths crap?

Hey, ho.

I bought a boat through Ancasta, I would have thought they would be a bit smarter than they sound. They must realise they need to pass on these ex-dream boats to us lesser mortals. These boats don't suddenly begin to use less fuel because the boat is cheaper. Therefore they will be needing to find punters for secondhand boats that use a lot of fuel, these owners will think £2k is a bl@@dy lot of cash.

They even comment on the other increasing costs. So if marina's are going up and fuel is going up and servicing is going up, its going to be a hell of a lot more than £2k per annum. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
