Looking for a 13 inch square deck hatch

We have replaced all of the old deck hatches on our boat apart from one that seems to be an unusual size. The internal cut out dimensions are 330x330mm, (or 13 inches). I think that I have googled the issue from every direction to try and track down a replacement hatch but with absolutely no...

    Mediterranean Marina prices.

Looking for an annual contract for a sailing yacht 11.3 x 3.8 metres in Greece or Turkey starting from July 22. Is there a resource that gives an indication of approximate cost or will I have to email each potential marina individually? Been through a number of marina websites and not all seem...

UK holidaymakers barred from EU after 1 January under Covid rules This might make sailing to the EU and visiting boats abroad challenging for a while.

    French ban on boating.

So as it appears, at present, if I want to go to my boat in La Rochelle this summer I will have to do 14 days quarantine on the way into France, presumably this can be on the boat, and then another 14 days quarantine n my return to the UK. Boating in France seems to be opening up ahead of the...

Can you remember the first sail you ever had and what in

On my uncle Fred's home built Heron at the Civil Service Sailing Association, aged about 8 in around 1966, then on the same boat from Brightlingsea Town Hard a few months later. I never managed to get uncle Fred out on any of my boats but I used to send hime postcards from my travels.

    French ban on boating.

I have just received an email from our marina in La Rochelle informing us of a ban on boating in France to be enforced by the Maritime and Nautical Brigade of the National Gendarmarie. We were out on the boat this week in La Rochelle and, in anticipation of Macron's speach on Mondy, had to...

    Old Oyster worth considering?

Hi there, we have an old Oyster 35, built in 1980, that we had since 2004 and have done lots of miles in, across the Atlantic, Biscay, West of Ireland, Spain and Portugal. Currently based in La Rochelle. I think they they work well as a liveaboard for a couple of people, our aft cabin is...

    Coppercoat Orwell

We had our boat done at Foxs and they did an excellent job, not cheap as we had the epoxy redone at the same time but it has proved very effective and looks great.

Biarritz to La Rochelle this week

We keep our boat in LR. You look like you have struck lucky with the weather this weekend. If it is a delivery go offshore a few miles and just bang it out in one hit, looks like you may need a drop of diesel. Royan is there if you want a breather.

    Passport Escales

I have the current version from La Rochelle and we get 7 days total but it depends upn the local contract that your marina offers. Some are much more generous, especially the dry sail options where your boat is stored ashore and launched when you want to use it.

    Ha'Pennypier grumble..

I agree, they have always been really helpful whenever we have moored there. We did once have a yacht arrive late claiming that they had "booked" the space that we were in on the pontoon. As we were leaving very early we shifted up to the ferry berth to let them have our space, but I was les...
