Dating my Volvo sail drive diaphragm

My understanding has always been that the left dial indicates the year and the right dial the month, so in your case 2008 and Month 5. You can probably test this against the age of the boat.

Volvo MD2030 sea water heat exchanger

I have had two MD2030's and both had the same tube pack as yours. It is a while since I removed and cleaned the current one but from memory it fits either way round and the smaller hose clamp in the middle of each of the rubbers seal around the solid band each end which then effectively centres...

    Small gelcoat repairs

I have used it on some hairline cracks and didn't find it as easy or quite as good as the marketing and video's suggest but maybe that is down to my skill level!

    Flexiteek or similar

I replaced the teak on my cockpit seats and sole with Tek Dek 18 months ago (Bavaria 36) and am very pleased with it. I removed the existing teak which was the usual thin teak on ply using a multi tool as this saved quite a bit of cost due to the labour involved -took me a couple of days as...

    Soot around hull exhaust outlet

Thanks for all the helpful replies. Seems my concerns are unfounded so will settle for cleaning off the soot and just keep an eye on the engine.

    Soot around hull exhaust outlet

Engine is a 2005 Volvo MD2030, hours unknown (was a refurbed engine PO had installed by an ex Volvo engineer 5 years ago) fitted in a Bavaria 36 Always starts first time, runs well through full rev range both under load and no load, water flow from exhaust is very good, no obvious signs of...

    Rigger in Gosport

+1 for Martin Leaning. I had full standing rigging replaced on a B36, including complete new furler. Very good technical and customer service. Not the cheapest but managed to negotiate a bit.

    Hurricane Fenders

I purchased 6 back in February. When they arrived I was not happy with the quality -rough texture surface in patches and dimples. Sent a photo and was asked to return them -for which they arranged collection. After they received them back I was told they should not have passed quality control as...

    Screw removal in grp?

It could be that the screws are tapped into an aluminium plate bonded into the fibreglass in which case corrosion may well have 'welded' them together, in which case an impact screwdriver may be the best tool.

Simrad cruise chart plotter and AIS?

I have just purchased one of the new Raymarine Element plotters. I wanted a plotter that has good basic functionality and connectivity without all the bells and whistles and this ticks all the boxes. Also a good price, especially for the 9" one. Plus there are 2 models, the S aimed at sail...

Would you trade in a 1988 Jeanneau sundream 28 for a Bavaria Sport 320

After all that work and money it sounds like you now have a great boat in good condition and I would not think about swapping it unless size is a main driver. I had a Sun Odyssey 29.2 a couple of years ago (which was a lovely boat and was, I think, the successor to the Sundream) and I installed...
