    Yanmar 2GM20 Diesel Leak

Thanks vas for advice at Post 3. Have ordered a new Yanmar HP Pipe. When it eventually arrives I will be very careful not to disturb the large "nut" on the pump. Will try to find some way to lock it so that it can't move.

    Yanmar 2GM20 Diesel Leak

Ran my 2GM20 today. Started easily and ran well (as usual) but I happened to notice an occasional, but regular, drip of diesel from the connection of one of the high pressure fuel supply pipes with one of the injectors. I was able to tighten the union nut, which pulls the pipe end into the...

Water Pump Refurbishment - Yanmar 2GM20 Raw Water Cooled)

The subject of this thread is a Yanmar 2GM20. The cross section in Post 9 is for 3GM30 which is similar but not the same, The item that came loose was the Oil Seal which is Item 8 on the cross section draw in Post 2. On this pump the Water Seal Ring Item 7 does not help keep the Oil Seal in place.

Water Pump Refurbishment - Yanmar 2GM20 Raw Water Cooled)

Purchased the water seal washer (slinger) as kindly advised by VicS in #2 above. Then reassembled pump with all new parts. Went out to my boat this morning, refitted the pump, started the engine and guess what - water dripping from the weep hole in the bottom of the pump body. Removed the pump...

    Genoa Staining

My furling genoa has a white UV strip on leach and foot. The UV strip is in good condition but has some green algae staining, particularly near the head. I blame the very damp weather and me for not taking the sail home (keep kidding myself that I'm going to do a bit of Winter sailing). In the...

Water Pump Refurbishment - Yanmar 2GM20 Raw Water Cooled)

Am about to refurbish the dripping SW water pump on my 1992 Yanmar 2GM20(C) using a service kit that contains nearly everything other than the pump casting and the V pulley. If you are able to see the attached exploded view you will see that the components mounted on the shaft from the pump body...

    Submerged or submarine

To me and many others from the Portsmouth & Southsea area the local name used was just "The Blocks". Used to be good for bass fishing.

    Interscrews for Windows

Am planning to replaced crazed perspex windows this winter. Frames are secured with imperial 2BA Stainless Screws into Chromed Brass 2BA Interscrew Sockets on the inside. Am sure some of the sockets will not be re-usable so want to purchase some new or used replacements. Want to stick to 2BA as...

    Brown Silicone Sealant

I thought Sikaflex EBT+ was a flexible adhesive. If I needed to replace the perspex at a later date because of, say, crazing would I be easily able to get the old perspex off the tufnol frame?

    Brown Silicone Sealant

I need to reseal my bronze colour perspex hatch to its hinging tufnol frame. My favourite silicon sealant is Geocel Marine Silicone Rubber Sealant but this is only available in white, black and clear. For this job I need brown. Can anyone, with personal experience, recommend a really good brown...

    Tufnol Hatch

The forehach on my boat is cleverly machined from one large piece of tufnol about 25mm thick and is as old as the boat (about 46 years) .When given a scrub in comes up almost as new. However, when subjected to continual rain or sea spray there appears a water stain on the inside edges visible...

    Flexible water tanks

The Flexible Water Tank on my boat was also made by Air Cushion Equipment Ltd of Southamton and is 40 years old. No leaks and I still drink the water from it (via a carbon filter) and it tastes fine. I have the idea they were made to a better standard and today's offerings. If it was me, I would...

    Inverter

Now that I know DeWalt, and Makita, do a charger taking their standard batteries, with 12v DC input and 10.8v - 18v output, I have decided that is the way to go. I already have an 18v Dewalt drill with two rechargeable batteries, so all I need to get is the DC119-XJ charger. Thank you all for...
