    Boat Survey

Happy to recommend Marine Surveys UK. Matt did a couple of surveys for me the latest being our Targa 38 5 years ago. Very thorough and a nice chap as well. He was happy for me to be there, so I learnt a little about the boat as well. Don’t forget about the engines as well, and if they’re the...

    A very English thing.....

Very cool. And I don’t even like cricket! Was only talking about this last weekend when my Dad came out with us for his birthday. Great video

    AIS Not Transmitting

Jonathan, we’re down tomorrow night for the weekend so I can see if Bubbers can pick you up, now she’s back in the water and all nice and clean

    Solent Spots

I have. Decided to keep her after all so she’s back on the berth in Port Hamble, until the 16th, for Mr Street to give her the annual once over. Probably not far from where you were last year. It had better be a similar summer this year to last!! Did you decide to stay in PH or move?

    Solent Spots

We did Chichester marina last year a couple of times. Boat House Cafe is nice especially on a sunny evening. We also quite like Alum Bay. Bucklers Hard up the Beaulieu River with the Master Builders good also, but needs booking in advance.

What Tender Size For Fairline T38

We've got a Zodiac 230 with a 4hp outboard. Sits on Hurley Davits on the bathing platform. I wanted something that would sit on the bathing platform and still be able to access the boat from either port or starboard when mooring up. We can do this with the 230 and still get two adults and two...

Ropes and Fenders - What size?

Congratulations on the new boat. Great choice! On our T38 we have 7 fenders. They came when we bought her. We have 4 down the pontoon side and throw three out on the adjacent boat (non pontoon) side. The only thing I would say with having more is storing them quickly and easily. I squeeze five...

How much insurance do we need?

So let's compare with the recent car park fire in Liverpool that took out over a thousand cars. I don't know the details but apparently one car started that. I'm pretty sure one insurance policy won't be covering a thousand cars. Each owner will claim on their own policy as 3rd party damage...

How much insurance do we need?

Why do people regard boat insurance more of a liability risk than car insurance?? You have a minimum liability clause from your home marina and beyond the value of the boat that's it. Please let's not start trying to make sure we as boat owners begin to define every possible risk to then price...

    Delivery Skipper with Training

Hi Jonathan. I used Pete Green at Halcyon Yachts. Really nice guy and did a great job navigating through thick fog as soon as we left Brighton! Would not hesitate to recommend him and he'll probably video the trip for you. I would question what training you think you need though. You've been a...

sealine s28 survey stress crazing advise please

+1 had exactly the same issue with ours. Vendor agreed to cover the cost and broker pulled some strings with the boatyard to get it sorted in double quick time. And the repair was perfect. You've got some leverage with the vendor and the broker at the moment. You may get a £1000 off, but you'll...

Deposit down... now the admin starts!

Congratulations on the purchase. You've got the main man for the engines. For the survey I'd recommend Matt West at Marine Surveys UK. Very nice guy, thorough and not too far away. He's based in Emsworth and did my survey in Brighton. Best of luck

    Moderate Sea State & Shelter

We were in the same boat (if you pardon the pun) but after giving up Saturday and Sunday I decided I'd rather sit on the boat (Targa 38) in the marina than at home and I was desperate for a run out after Volvopaul kindly sorted my annual service out. After a spot of lunch and a brief rain shower...

    First time buyer - Sealine/Bayliner

Have you trailered anything this size before? Whilst they are "small" boats they are massive to be trailered in and out all the time, especially the 265. We originally started out with a little dinghy on the Thames and coming back in one night we saw a couple bringing a 265 out. I think it was...
