    Stowe micro 210 - free

Head only, no transducers, working right up until the wiring failed on the log. Collect Levington or Needham Market. Will post at cost.

    Levington entrance

I think it has got a bit shallower, especially at the river end of the channel. Perhaps the dredging further up the river is causing some silting?

    Corrosion problem 1GM10

Can’t remember the exact brand but it would be something like this: Plastic Padding Super Steel Epoxy Weld | Halfords UK obviously surface preparation is important and I think I used some sort of etching primer on the bare alloy. It was a few years ago so the details are a bit blurry. It...

    Corrosion problem 1GM10

I had the same issue with my 1Gm. Obviously replacing the case is the ‘best’ solution but it’s not an easy job and not cheap either. I used some plastic metal stuff to form a patch which held a thread sufficiently to keep the pump in place. It’s not by any means a great solution but it kept my...

    Log transducer repair

Thanks all for the advice. It was confirmation that the sensor was stuck into resin that I was after. I’ll have a dig around and hopefully the break is fairly close to the surface. I suspect it has been trodden on somehow.

    Log transducer repair

My old Stowe micro 210 log has given good service for many years but has now developed a very irritating fault. It appears that one or more of the wires which protrude from the transducer have broken as it will only give a reading intermittently and then only when I wiggle the wires around a...

Medical book and first aid kit

I notice none of the lists suggest something for constipation. Severe impaction could really put a downer on your experience. Isphagula husk or macrogol could be quite useful to carry.

He’s a clever lad, following a strong family tradition. Good luck to him.

    Plank repair - opinions welcomed

It’s a fair comment. I could have made it longer but I would have been faced with resiting a skin fitting on one side and taking half the cockpit apart to gain access to rivet heads on the other. As it was, it was a fairly quick and easy repair to make and the short length didn’t require any...

    Plank repair - opinions welcomed

I’ve hesitated to update this thread until the boat is back in the water. She’s afloat and pretty tight after 24 hours with no problem around the repair, which in the end was fitted against butt blocks. Couple of photos of the plank during fitting for anyone who’s interested.

    Suffolk Yacht Harbour

In SYH, probably very little although there are some lovely country walks around the marina. If you need bright lights and child-friendly diversions, then Felixstowe is only a few miles away. It has a pier and amusement arcades. Foot ferry trips will take you across the harbour to Harwich...

    Plank repair - opinions welcomed

Interesting point. Can I ask why you suggest an extra set of ribs? Is it give a firmer base for a short length of planking? There aren’t any other butt blocks in the boat as far as I can see; certainly non in the proximity of the repair.

    Plank repair - opinions welcomed

Thanks to all for views. In the end I’ve decided to go minimalist and with butt blocks. Although the plank is completely degraded around the bolt holes it doesn’t go too far along the grain, nor spread to adjacent planks and the timbers are as good as new. Next question - what to replace it...
