Boats with 12v and 24v systems on board.

We've 24v primarily with a few 12v circuits. No real issues, but you must remember for wiring circuits you can go from 12v to 24v with the same wire circuit but you MUST NOT go from 24v to 12v using the same wire circuit.

    Fischer Panda 10000i problems

I DON'T have an FP generator. But was considering getting one after we couldn't get our old Onan Generator to start. To cut a long story short we eventually worked out it was the starter motor and had it replaced for £300. Our neighbour in the marina has had FP problems. SailLife has had FP...

    Storm Isha

I'm not sure you need detailed knowledge to understand if extreme weather is caused by global warming. It's simple Newtonian physics. More warming = more energy. Weather is stored and then released energy. More energy = more weather.

    Gas , refillable

Does anyone know where you can get a 7kg butane gas bottle with a standard screw-on fitting? Most seem to have the push-on these days and I'd like to refill my 4.5kg bottle. I know calor distribution centres have them but they don't seem to want to sell the bottle (just swap).

    New Heads Worktop

I'm considering replacing the Heads Worktop when I replace the taps and bowl as whilst the current worksurface is OK (ish) I think a more modern look would be better AND it would be easier to replace the taps and bowl. Any suggestions on a) the material (I would like a solid "stone" finish...

    3.5hp 2-stroke problems

We have a 3.5 relatively new 2-stroke outboard (Tohatsu). It starts from cold OK, runs OK, but invariably after we use it and try to start it again when the engine is still warm it just will not start. We've seen lots of these engines being used so clearly they are reliable, but ours just is...

    Heads Tap and Spout Fittings

I would like to refresh the old taps and spout in the Heads, but cannot seem to find any fittings that are suitable (that is 2 separate taps and a separate spout) so I can reuse the current holes in the surface of the heads. Can anyone help in sourcing some replacements? Also, recommendations...

    Visiting France

Looks like there Looks like there are now some simpler solutions than going to Cherbourg to check in/out. But no solution (other than do nothing) is going to be better than doing... ..nothing. And there's also the faff on leaving and returning to the UK. :-)

    Visiting France

And what did we do before B***t? Nothing. So it's no longer simple. Before, if I wanted to go to St Vaast. Nothing. After, either: 1) Sail to St Vaast, get taxi to Cherbourg, get passports stamped, taxi back to Cherbourg. Same on leaving St Vaast to go back to UK or 2) Sail to...

Places/countries you would *not* visit again

Brixham. Overpriced Marina. Parents took us on holiday there when I was growing up in the late 60's. Either Brixham has gone down in the world or I've gone up in the world!

    Roaming charges are back

Welcome to the sweet smell of Brexit Benefits. It cost me over £100 pounds for roaming in France for the family holiday this year (4 mobiles). The only smell I think it is, is shite. Brexshit - the gift that keeps taking.
