Chartplotter in cockpit or Nav station - Opinions

I agree. Personally if I'm in unfamiliar waters I want every piece of information to hand - including Mk1 Eyeball and a paper chart, pencil and double-rulers (can't remember what the correct term is). The old saying should always be in the mind - "Pride comes before a fall".

Chartplotter in cockpit or Nav station - Opinions

I can add my two-penneth without fear of being hauled ashore and slung in leg-irons! Boat sold in 2020:( On my oldish 9m (Javelin) I sailed almost entirely single handed and therefore tried to avoid "going below" for most reasons/needs. I constructed a simple swivelling mount for the plotter...

Any more remarks like that and you can forget your Gin, Pizza and Shower. The memsahib is still welcome ?

Ship aground then drifting near Skye bridge.

Go on, SOMEONE had to say it........................... "We're all doomed! DOOMED, I tell ye."

Ship aground then drifting near Skye bridge.

Perhaps the elastic band had come of the doo-hicky and wrapped round a waffle-sprocket. Captain packing his duffle bag in his cabin, cook making sandwiches - both getting ready to wade ashore once it hit the rocks. Crew arguing over whether it needs a 3/8ths or a 18mm ring spanner. "Nothing to...

Total rubbish published by The Spectator...

I used to see a boat anchor off Gruinard Beach, under by Froach Eilean. And a few cheeky so-and-sos used to use my mooring in Mill Bay. You KNOW who you are.........;) And some intrepid voyagers used to sail all the way past into Loch Broom and Ullapool. Quite disturbed the peace and...

    Cost of Sailing

That's a good option. Well done for posting. I am horrified to hear how much it costs to keep a boat on the south coast:eek: That's more in one season than I bought Khamsin for - by a long way.

Through the Kyles of Bute at 46 knots?

Touche (sorry, couldn't find the accented "e")

Through the Kyles of Bute at 46 knots?

the the driver of the boat never looks behind to see the chaos being caused...... Sort of sums up a large proportion of the human race in many situations and spheres - not just boating. Sadly.

Through the Kyles of Bute at 46 knots?

I went through The Narrows at Khamsin's near maximum speed - 6kts. What's so scary about that, you ask? Well, I had two Fifes on each beam - Probably well over £1,000,000 within a beam's distance..........

Thousands of crabs and lobsters washed up on Yorkshire beaches,

We're all DOOMED, Captain Mainwaring, DOOMED, I tell you! Seriously, that's worrying. I hope an answer is soon forthcoming.

    Actually owning a boat

The two happiest days of boat ownership are:- The day you buy and the day you sell. However, what Stemar said may well be true, I had ten fabulous years with Khamsin. She taught me masses about boats and myself, I did things I'd only dreamed about, I met lots of really good fellow sailors, and...

    Khamsin of Northney Javelin 30

I managed to trace one previous owner, I believe he was the first to put her in the water after two "Finish her in the back garden" failed attempts. Two "'er indoors" put their respective "feet down" !!
