We seem to have a’blow back’ past 1 of the injectors which is blowing a small amount of air (from the cylinder) back to the filter which after a while causes the engine to stop.
Cleaning through the fuel system in a First 305 with a VP2002 there is a pre-filter that is similar to the usual CAV water separator but has no filter element but a metal cone in the upper part. This cone is marked as 'sediment filter'. Is this normal? How does it work? Thanks for any help or...

I have used a ratchet strap tightened round the othside of the tyre to create the seal. Once you have a bit of air in you release the strap and inflate normally
