MD2030D and P120 Saildrive Gear Selection Problems

Maybe two problems here - looking for diagnostics and possible solutions before going back to the boat and trying again. Over the last few uses of the boat (before and after lift-out) we've noticed that forward gear is slow to engage and the morse lever travel is greater than it used to be...

How about a not whereizzit, but your places pics?

Approach from the SW along the red arrow. Anchor around the star. This is an excerpt from one of Bob Bradfield's excellent Antares charts - hope it's ok to replicate here. Not for navigation!

How about a not whereizzit, but your places pics?

Not quite - the photo is taken that way for effect! It's much more open to the South, from which it's normally accessed. It's pretty exposed, so only really tenable in calm spells. Fantastic place to stop off for a few hours during the day.

How about a not whereizzit, but your places pics?

They're in the Firth of Lorne, North of the islans of Jura and Scarba, West coast of Scotland. Really interesting spot to visit, with an ancient monastery ruin and some well-preserved beehive cells. Some details here: The Garvellachs – Islands of the Sea

    Morse Diesel Engine Control

Thanks folks - a few ideas here to be investigated at the weekend. If I have any success I'll report back.

    Morse Diesel Engine Control

So, everything has been fine for quite a while now. Forward, reverse gear selection and increasing the revs. No problem and no system stiffness. We've been out of the water for the winter and have observed that we need to rotate the morse lever further 'forward' (not checked reverse) to get...

    Autohelm ST50 Tridata Head/Display

Unit kindly supplied by Martin J - thank you.

    Autohelm ST50 Tridata Head/Display

My ST50 Tridata head seems to have gone kaput. We're just back from 3 weeks on the West Coast of Scotland, and 3 weeks without a depth sounder is not good for the nerves. God bless chart plotters and lead lines. So, if you have an operational ST50 tridata head I might be interested in...

    Self-study RYA Coastal Theory?

I did self-study for my dazed kipper. No problem being accepted for the course. Recently did a couple of more advanced practical courses and there was no check on the shore-based qualification paperwork. The tutor will soon suss out whether you're at the correct level for the course. Good luck.

    Ardrossan V Fairlie

Either would serve your purposes well. I spent a long and weary winter in Ardrossan manually stripping the antifoul off our boat the year we bought her. Ardrossan handier if you're travelling by train - station right next to the marina. Maybe also marginally better by car. Great staff...

Autohelm ST50 Wind Speed Transducer Spares, NOT bearings

An update,in case anyone else finds themselves in the same predicament. Tninley supply the magnet assembly and the shaft together. Arrived and now fitted. Happy and relieved. Hopefully I've reassembeld it correctly - we'll see when we go back into the water on Saturday.

Autohelm ST50 Wind Speed Transducer Spares, NOT bearings

Thanks for the further response. The post does help, as picture 11 has the item that I've lost. It's the whole magnet assembly that's mounted on the end of the anemometer shaft. Looks like it's four magnets winthin a plastic housing which slips onto the end of the shaft. My own searches...

    Anti foul-remove or not

We did scrape back because, when we bought the boat, there were large patches which had dropped off. 'As it's falling off, it'll be easy to remove' we thought. How wrong can you be? Anyway, we stripped it back to gelcoat, applied a few layers of Primocon and a coat of eroding anifoul. Every...
