You have to say, whether you like this kind of over simplification of boat handling or not. It's a clever piece of kit.
The video though - yuck. Talk about dumbing down. I gave it nine out of ten on my vomitometer.
Another book by Alan Villiers "War with Cape Horn" describes the "P" Line ships, owned by the German company "The Lieth Line". All their ships names began with a P. The one's I remember are the Potosi, Penang, and of course the Peking. The were all 4 masters, and built of steel. With the growth...
The best system I have seen was used by a boat rigger.
He just had a simple block a tackle. A double block at one end and a single block at the other. the single block had the bosun's chair attached to it.
He attached the double block to our main halyard, and hauled it to the top of the mast...
Hi Pete
I just looked at the pictures. I didn't read the thread. Sorry.
In which case the next size up would be suitable the price will roughly £1,000
This is for the two platforms and the spring
Hi Iain
This is why I need the investment. I've been struggling with a shoestring budget on this project for the last few. Its a great product, but I come from an engineering background and I know my marketing skills are limited. The investment would pay for a more professional approach. Here's...
Hi Phil
What a beautiful boat.
From the pictures it looks to me as if you have no winches. In which case the Mini version would suit. We are not manufacturing this yet, but it will be on sale for about £600. That includes the two platforms and the spring assembly.

Hi Pete. OK
Windvane units clutter up the stern of the boat making it difficult to fit boarding ladders, aerials, radar, as well as dinghy davits. They are also vulnerable to damage, particularly when manoeuvring in harbour. Also, if some weed gets caught on the rudder the steering goes awry...
Hi Phil. I appreciate the unit on view is too big for your boat. I have a design for 24ft to 27 ft boats which is smaller and has better styling. I can also be used with simple jamb cleats.
Does this help?
Rob
Hi Nathan
I appreciate your scepticism but I have sailed with the Steersman and I really believe it is better than anything else on the market. I'm convinced that once a few people have it installed on their boat, others will follow their lead.
Also, it is perfectly practical to have both a...
The reason is something called precession.
Studied this during my engineering degree. Its a phenomena of gyroscopes.
An electric motor and flywheel, were mounted horizontally, and fitted to the top of a pole. When the electric motor was running at full speed, we pushed a ruler against the...
