Hi Lumphammer,
I live and work in Swansea Marina but know both Swansea and Cardiff well. Both Marinas are locked behind a their own respective barrages.
The difference between Swansea and Cardiff is about 40 miles from Ireland and is about 6-8 hours sail with tidal considerations. Conversely...
I think there is a presumption that people will assume a particular default based on the HP - for example if it's a 3.5hp then most people would assume a tiller, whereas if it's a 250hp V8 then most people will assume remotes (although Mercury at least will sell you a tiller option up to 300HP...
On the original subject, our suppliers in France have told us the following in relation to the delivery of occasional boat parts from them;
I am glad to confirm that this will not affect our direct delivery cost which remains the same.
However, it will impact a new cost to the customer of 63€...
Morning all,
Wow I hadn't expected this forum to generate so much debate but I'm grateful for all the feedback and thoughts!
The forum does good, its prompted me to rip my insurance apart looking for the loopholes mentioned earlier in this thread, I cant find any but will get in writing...
You are spot on :o Absolutely we don't want to incur expense we don't have to, surely that makes sense to most right? If someone qualified is happy to do it for the fun, then I'm happy for it to cost me less, if no-one wants to then fair enough.
Hi Rhino,
Thank you for the thoughts - all I know to the question of insurance is that I've asked them, on both fronts, and they are happy that as long as the test to make sure you're qualified has been met that they'd pay out and would cover and indemnify in the same - but perhaps they...
Hi Guys,
Sorry to have been a bit quiet on this, day-to-day job takes precedence over offering free sailing trips :) but anyway firstly I really appreciate the general thoughts and feedback on this -
In answer to some of the common questions;
Payment for the skippers - Understood you can have...
I can be a bit flexible about departure times - ideally they need to be on the way by the end of Feb latest and could possibly leave a bit earlier if needed. Prefer if the boats go in convoy for safety and support but not to worried if we cant.
Afternoon Forum,
We need to get a couple of new Jeanneaus (Sun Odyssey 389 & SO419) down from the S.France to Corfu around the 20th February.
So I'm looking for anyone who might be interested in the trip - its a win win, we get the boats where we need them and you get a free sailing trip...
That is a very interesting one, its certainly got some pretty clear parallels. Perhaps another boat from the same yard or designer - has anyone here got any specific knowledge one boats being built by US Hunter around this era, late 1970s?
To be fair to the owner the deck/cockpit coamings in...
Thanks for the quick responses! Yes, the owner had it listed as an Atlanta 24 as he's advised me - but I can't find anything much on this marque and the two boats which the Atlanta 24 associated to are very different things.
It has for example a very different rudder arrangement to both the...
Can anyone with more boat smarts than me advise what this pretty little yacht is? Its around 24ft long, bilge keel, built in the mid-seventies.
It has a transom hung rudder, was originally an inboard but at some point was converted to outboard only.
The cockpit is fairly succinct and the...
