Hope you are well. We left Antigua Sat, after an interesting couple of weeks, and were surprised to see this lady brewing.
PR still looks like it's going to get the double whammy as the cross over with Irma's track - but it could still shift N.
Bad year. Stay safe.
Standing here (Antigua) on an L450 I am relieved that Jose is on its way past before I read this thread!
Fwiw I think Zing has summed it up pretty well
And Richardbayle should be fine unless he departed Guadaloupe!
We have been on Antigua for the last week, moving from boats to basements as the forecasts dictated. 12 hours ago Jose was a huge threat, but has now followed Irma's northerly shift and we are currently projecting only strong winds...
whilst my 'special' was last seen leaving Cherbourg on a supposed round the world voyage it's replacement is raised and lowered in unison with the ensign :)
the long retired original hangs (sort of) in the workshop as a reminder of better days!
some of the issues referenced here will be 'wiring dependent' and others remind me of the Yachtmaster examination where the pupil was anchored, the examiner kept increasing the wind. pupil kept responding that he would increase the rode.... examiner "where are you getting all this extra warp...
Andy,
As I don't know the size of your boat I will also add to the previous comments re 'hard planning' - in my experience it can easily cause problems rather than avoid them! Whilst I'm only a relatively small boat (25' single engined open cockpit/hard top) most of the following will apply to...

the relatively long...
looking at that picture I know exactly what you mean re access - I tend to take off the alternator and power steering pump just to get at the raw water impeller! Whilst I can remove the plate without doing so, and in theory 'pulling' the impeller is possible........the reality is that removing...
late to the party but glad you found it.
I would, as BB, have gone straight to this having spent 2 months trying to tighten things up back in 2001 with exactly these symptoms - although in my case it would eventually cut out if run at over 2500 revs for any length of time as the engine...
indeed; although I think there's theoretical merit in the argument that they could contribute when raised - but nothing you would see in practice on data (unless they were absolutley huge!)
The main reasons Dolphin Haven can be 'almost empty' on bank holiday weekends is that they let people book/cancel at will. This ends up being reflected in the prices. I aware of a number of people who make a lot of bookings 'just in case'; and they are, of course, preventing many others from...
