Hi,
I have a Mercury 2.2hp 2 stroke I no longer use and am thinking of selling. Not used for a couple of years as I generally row the dinghy (hence looking to sell) but ran well when I did use it.
If it's of interest I can dig it out of shed and take pictures tomorrow. Boat is at Wicor, so...
Well the Eastern Solent seemed remarkably empty on Sunday, especially given the weather - not complaining mind you, it was nice to not have to practise ColRegs every 10 mins...
Update for all those kind enough to provide advice and support - having cleaned the mechanism over the winter and fitted a temporary tiller connection point to the new tiller I set out for a test in the Solent last Friday and (having got the wind vane the right way round) succesfully sailed...
I am going through a similar exercise for my Sadler 25, I had thought to reduce from 8mm to 7mm, but from this thread am now considering 20m of 6mm which is twice the length of 8mm I have and porbably slightly lighter. I was then going to add 30m of octoplait for those occaisions I need more...
I have a bilge keel version and have absolutley no complaints. Gin is correct water collects in puddles each side on the side decks in the area between the toe rail and the cockpit coaming but that is negligible compared to the excellent sailing performance (even with the bilge keels)
SteveAus,
That was my thoguht and I'm sure the sails were well (enough) balanced, so will play with location of the chain attachment point. Having bought the device secondhand with no instructions (although since kindly provided by Pye End) installation of the tiller connection has been guess...
Thanks SteveAus - the issue was it would not correct and come back on course, with the rudder blade stuck over to one side. Not had another chance to play since, but might have one last bite at trying this coming weekend if the forecast develops as promised.
To Carib's point, I believe this is...
Pleased to report that the part arrived in Saturdays' post, so was duly fitted today and a test sail completed. No veering +/- 20 degrees, so my conclusion is I almost certainly had the wind vanve facing 180 degrees.......
Wind (according to Bramblemet) was 8-10knts at the time I was testing...
After all the excellent support and suggestions it seems rude not to provide a progres update - after Sea Feather returned from their sumer break (which of course coincided with me finding the broken link) they have been extremely commuinicative and helpful and a new spare is on it's way...
