    A very brave lady

You forumites are a pretty mixed and sometimes argumentative bunch. That said I am sure we are all touched and saddened by her experience. Boating joy suddenly turned to horror. I really do not know what to say.

    Silly Sailors

Why does SunScum always have a start line for its Mickey Mouse Races just off Gilkicker, the main road from Pompey and Chi westward. They then set a race course suited for 14 foot dinghies but sail 40 foot yachts. At least they are always tucked up in bed by 4 p.m. Rant the 99th.

    Boat speeds in crowded waters

    Sad Sight in Fareham Creek.

So sad to see what was someone's pride and joy end up like that. Just shows how boating in Pompey has changed. The mooring cost more than the boat I guess.

    Other things from the Solent.

6 people on board a '6 berth boat' . 8 on 'etc'. Scary.

    Dark glasses and gloves!

Does anyone who actually owns, and pays good money to moor a boat, wear sailing gloves and dark glasses. Not to mention sitting on the side with their legs dangling. Just an observation from the Solent.

To scrap or keep an engine, to scrap or keep a boat?!

Sorry but I misread your post. In that case I guess you would really like to keep the boat and get a good engine. Cost is obviously important. I would still be against a recon. Patching old bottles at great cost and it is still and 'old' engine when you ever sell the boat. I am very happy with...

To scrap or keep an engine, to scrap or keep a boat?!

A reliable engine is a must, especially with a young family. Many older Volvos were raw water cooled which resulted in bad corrosion and salt blocked water ways. That is what killed mine. The cost of parts is eye watering. I went for a Beta and so far so good. Is it worth putting a new...
