I think I have a leaking cylinder head gasket ( white smoke from exhaust). Unable to find a local mechanic who fills me with any confidence I am going to remove the cylinder head to have a look and replace gasket if there is nothing any more seriously wrong with the head. I have never done this...

My Yanmar 3HM35 runs smoothly, starts first time but emits white smoke which appears to be atomised, unburnt fuel, increasing with revs. Heavy load test when tied to dockside shows black/brown smoke at full revs. Is there a simple solution or will I have to find a Yanmar mechanic to sort this out?
