Deadeye - Death at the Classic Regatta

I believe it was this... (or perhaps it was an old episode of Batman with Adam West) Q: There are two men on a boat with three cigarettes but no matches... how do each of them get to smoke? A; They throw one cigarette overboard, making the boat a cigarette lighter

    Reluctant crook…

again... yes, but I'm not quite sure why your insistence is to insinuate I was stating otherwise.

    Reluctant crook…

Yes... I am well aware of the criteria. I was neither condoning nor condemning the OP's query. I was merely stating facts and an example case.

    Reluctant crook…

There are exemptions as to when you can use red diesel/gasoil in your car (as we found out during the fuel shortage crisis in 2000). You may, if the correct criteria are met, apply for a rebated fuel licence (Using rebated fuels in vehicles and machines (Excise Notice 75)) however it appears to...

    Caught by the scamera

In Kos Harbour they eschew the Barrett in favour of the .50 Browning... with which you can deter several miscreants at the same time 😅

    Essex or Suffolk charters

I believe the East Anglian Sea School (EASS) here at SYH have bareboat and skippered charter available, although their boats may be larger than you were aiming for. Bareboat Charter

... Or more likely using a supply of FAME free fuel An increasing number of marinas are ensuring their supplies are as such.

    Fill her up ??

I know that there's been talk of this before on the forum, but it would appear to be relevant to mention it again I don't profess to be a petrochemist and as such I struggled to fully understand some of the research papers that are available on the subject, however from both first hand...

Paddle steamer heading down the Orwell.

We had an outing on the Waverley a few years back and always wondered myself why she didn't have independent paddles and assumed that it could be done with one engine and a clever arrangement of valves, but I guess not. Thanks for the info(y)😁

    Short Fat Wetsuit

Being myself not overly tall (5'11") and not as svelte as my doctor would like me to be, I may be of similar stature and I have a Gul shorty wetsuit that accommodates my 'built-for-comfort' physique admirably well. Worth a look perhaps? Men's | GUL | Watersports

    “East of Ipswich”

I saw it last night... all the more poignant since his wife (who he met on 'this' holiday) died only a few days ago.

3 years of crashing into stuff, and I'm only out of the water for one week and...

I appreciate what your saying but I don't think anyone has implied this, I certainly didn't intend to. With regard my post, at no point did I intend to angle accusation at the neighbour (and I apologise for any misunderstanding if my comment wasn't taken as intended), they may be completely...

3 years of crashing into stuff, and I'm only out of the water for one week and...

It's unlikely to be sling damage, that presents itself with vertical scratches as the slings are pulled up... and only likely where the lifting points are. Although I appreciate your thoughts on a screw or similar embedded, the OP said they weren't there during his previous visit to the boat...

Cost for yard to replace a skin fitting?

Hi, hope it's ok to reply on behalf of SYH. Without knowing or seeing the boat, it's a bit tricky to give any detailed info at this point regarding what may be involved or how long it might take, however as has been mentioned above there are a whole raft of possible issues that may hinder...

Calor apparently due to discontinue 4.5kg & 3.9kg

I've just been sent this link, we have spoken to our supplier who believes this to be accurate. We're currently waiting to see what options for those returning 4.5 & 3.9 bottles have. All rather disappointing.
