Losing more Lockkeepers - just in time for the new season

Heard on the grapevine but seems legit...EA are now re-recruiting 10 Relief Lock Keeper to be in situ by the May Bank holiday with contracts till 31st October Just hope they look after their longstanding reliefs first... One of the newer ones is a right PIA who i try to avoid.

Losing more Lockkeepers - just in time for the new season

Not the first time the EA has done this, only to renew contracts for the coming season.

Perhaps WaterAid or Oxfam could do a campaign?

If the EA is not able to offer a solution to the supply of water within the regulations, there seems to be a implied threat that they could remove the facility. Has that statement been confirmed with the water supplier or the ombudsman?

And these other boats don't? Perhaps if you spent more time on your boat rather than moaning on forums you might beat them to the prime spots.

And if it was wall to wall cruisers there would be no room for narrowboats.

I seem to remember the EA trying some initiative to encourage double mooring. It didn't really work...but reminders lockside wouldn't hurt. It would also be helpful if boats shared rings and bollards and kept closer gaps when mooring.

Unless you go up to Osney nothing has changed. If you want to visit Oxford, my advice is moor in Abingdon and take the bus in.

    New moorings at Sonning

I do wish they would let you know what the charges are without having to go see the lockie. It will be free for 24hrs anyway so why not say that? And then that each additional night (max 2) is £5.50 a night? I shall not be "registering my arrival" en route to the Bull... Take a walk each...
