I had the same problem..Isent my 3000 in for repair but it was beyond fixing so the tech department offered me 25% off a new unit. They were very good but when i sent the e-mail to try and purchase the unit i had no reply (6 or 7 times)
In the end i phoned them and the service was excellent.
Yes..thats easy. Go back and read all the replys i got ref 'water in oil' then after two weeks you will still have no idea whats causing it!!!
Im still confused with mine..
Although from the experiments i have seen in my girlies lab , it only takes a tiny ammount of water in the oil to emmulsify it.
i have heard that cardiff bay yacht club is a good place to venture to ,but it's not in the almanac . apparently they have 24 hr access in and out of the locks dividing the bristol channel and the bay ..but where are they located when you get into the bay?
Re: bottle it and flog it ..nm
yes i have got a heat exchanger but the only way sea water could end up in the sump is by going via the fresh water i think..and the fresh water level has not moved either up or down . Any thing i may be overlooking would be much appreciated.
Andy
don't know anything at all about it but it sounds good. surely if it was very good all boats would be built that way unless it was a proto type / race accross the atlantic boat with cost irrelivant?
Re: bottle it and flog it ..nm
it cant be:-
the head gasket cos its been changed twice & i'm not loosing header tank water.
the sea water pump is away from engine via a belt.
the diesel lift pump is ok, i checked it.
the fuel injection pump has been changed.
there does'nt appear to be water...
depending on the work involved etc i would opt for a seperate pipe so you have two totally independant systems in case of emergency.. thats just me though.
Slow speed with cobalt, wear goggles as they can shatter (not often) but be aware. I know someone who lost part of their sight due to it (used allot on aircraft) if you know anybody in the trade!!
Re: bottle it and flog it ..nm
Bill,
I would but i have had several very good 'boat engineers' look at it and it is still a mystery....the actual boat is perfect...on the other hand if i buy a new engine i may have the same problem if it is the exhaust or maybe even sabatage!!!!
