Just bought an old zodiac fast roller 2.85. can anyone point me to the right inflation adapters for this. There's one big type on the tubes and a smaller one on the keel and high pressure floor. Thanks

Hi I had a fairly old zodiac fast roller a very nice dinghy. The only thing I really did not like about the dinghy was the inflation valves. The hose from the pump that fitted the valves by way of (2 different sizes) tapered tubes which had to be changed depending on if inflating the sponsons or the floor. Quite often when pulling out the hose from the sponson the tapered adapter tube would stay in place so deflating the sponson. Stand by with a pair of pliars or something similar for a quick removal of the adapter tube. Hope this of use. Try Ron Hale of Portsmouth they should have what you need. Jim:)

ok thanks, the tubes seem to have a locking adapter, tried a friends SUP pump which was similar but not deep enough to lock into place but did work if help in place, had no hope inflating the floor though.
Needs some glueing, the hull has come away from the tubes in an 18-24" section and the floor has a leak apparently but for £100 it should be ok.

Hi Anthony that is the dust cap+ seal. I would suggest you take serial number / model and contact Ron hale they are very helpful. As for the picture of the floor I think you have quite a job on there.

Really, i tried pulling the rest and its well stuck only parted on that bow section . What pitfalls should i be looking for when re-gluing?

Hi Anthony, some of the things to watch for is to make sure you remove all the old adhesive probably using acetone but before you do put masking tape around the lines left by the original adhesive. Use a good quality 2 part adhesive and follow instructions. Prepare both surfaces to be bonded (clean) use fine sandpaper and lightly sand in these areas . Before applying first coat of adhesive go over the surface with acetone. Once you have bonded the floor back into place remembering you will be using an impact adhesive(really only one chance of getting it right). I would reinforce the join to give repair maximum strength by adding strips to overlap the original floor material and the tubes (Belt and braces).

thanks, i did consider over-taping the joints. I've got a pot of MEK to prep the surface before glueing and yes, using 2 part.

I annoyed myself by buying a pot of MEK (as recommended by the adhesive) because when i opened the pot and smelt it, its acetone!!! an expensive way of buying acetone, much cheaper from your local GRP supplier.

I got mine from a local company. £6 for half a litre i think it worked out at, I have plenty of acetone but was told MEK is better as it doesn't flash off as quick and softens the PVC better. But anyhoo, guess both work. Gonna give it a go today if the weather holds.

Ok, repair done now and seems good.

Now I've got an issue with the rowlocks, they slide into the fitting on the gunwale and a retaining pin slides in but due to the flat on the pin it only retains when the oars are rotated inboard, is this right? surely they should retain when in use.
