hi, i need new anodes. Moose commented that the anodes which screw on to the end of the propshafts are flat-ended and if they were pointy, the flow wd be smooth and boat go faster! So, anyone know someone who custom- makes anodes?

Why? Have you tried it?

I was told by the owner of a Princess 40 (new one with 63Ps) that he gained over a knot with them and that all racing boats had them for that reason (he owned and ran a racing boat team!) So there must be something in it. However, I don't think he used anodes, he had specially made cones.

No have not tired this. Seen some articles only and they relate to fitting cones rather than anodes to the leading edge of outdrive - the pointy bit and thus pierce the water more cleanly for better speed. Have not seen anything about your suggested device although no doubt they will exist. Would hate to think that TCM would go for this and find it added to an ever increasing list of boating expenses for him for no real gain. Roy

Yes, they have the standard volvo rounded boss - designed to provide perfect water flow they claim. Roy

You'll not see any difference on a boat like yours, but you could always set about a std set with a grinder or a file. You'll be wasting the zinc though!

Need gold plated rocker covers to go faster, Matt. And a bigger spoiler. And an aluminium cover thingy round the fuel filler. Don't forget to add several tons to the boat to make her sit lower in the water - that makes them look faster. And you'll need a subwoofer the size of Spain, too.

I can't even begin to match Wiggo's comments on this and Magnum's post on gold plated rocker covers. I'm still chuckling now. Thanks wiggo for brightening up my Monday.

Oh - back to anodes. I just don't think that the amount of "slickness" obtained would affect 48 tonnes of boat. Maybe it would go 0.1 kts per hour faster?? Wouldn't Leopard have thought of this?

Now painting some glittery starburst flames down the side would definately make it go faster.

Mmm, candy apple over a nice metalflake. Nice. Now if you took the radar arch off, and turned it round so it faced forward, I reckon you could get a killer 'Starsky and Hutch' stripe on there, too...
