With a few of our favourites bowing out, we’re running low on YouTube sailing content. Any recommendations for channels to watch outside of the standard Delos, Vagabonde, Anderaa type stuff?

I don’t need you to say you don’t like YouTube, there are plenty of threads for that, just looking for new things to watch thanks 👍

How to fix things threads?

Joking aside

There’s something for everyone out there
‘Sailing Florence’ you may like
The Y/T algorthym is pretty good at feeding the hole once you put in a few vaguely related searches and mini peeks/passes on stuff

Eg I would look at islands and reverse engineer to ‘ boats that sailed there’ , kind of thing

Yes we’ve done all of Florence. Also done Wildling and Bumbling sailor. Not many new recommendations from YouTube for us so easier to just ask 😊

I’ve whittled my watch list down somewhat. In no particular order;
Aluring Arctic - overwintering in Greenland was something else.
Sailing Florence
Tuapia
- no speaking and incredible photography / videography. Stunning visually plus Cape Horn in Winter. In a dufour no less!
Bushpoint - retired couple in a Garcia (?) doing some pretty cool things.
Sailing Magic Carpet. Perfect combination imo. Great storytelling, great cinematography, expert boat builder and beautiful boat in nice part of the world.

None of the above are in warm waters so very short in gratuitous bikini shots if that’s what you’re looking for.

I like the smaller outfits. I never latched on to the most popular channels for some reason (with the exception of Tally Ho, obviously), they always end up seeming a bit desperate to keep the interest up.

Anyway, try this:

.

Have you tried this guy?
He’s kind of chaotic at times. Lots of swinging things tied to the cabin ceiling as he rolls along, yet he racks up the miles and places with lots of enthusiasm and energy and it’s real low key travelling.
Might inspire?
He’s also a very able designer/ maker in the cad field
Sam Holmes sailing

Also. Some of the y/t gems are the old ciné film that simply wasn’t generally available until now?

Put ‘Eric Hiscock’ into the search and a plethora of curiosities emerge

lol I’ve definitely seen that one 🤣

It’s surprising how many people admit they don’t like living on board or sailing all the time when you travel about. Quite a few we’ve met have said it but the rewards are worth it.

I enjoyed the several series of 'Intrepid Bear'. They came across as likeable, authentic cruisers willing to show the downsides of long-term cruising without creating drama just to chase ratings and gain sponsorship.

Surprised you don’t do your own. You sail around and have interesting views.

Probably useful to list who you watch / don’t like and the attributes that attract you to them. Eg we watch some because they are fairly local so give us ideas what to expect or things to look for when there, others because we have absolutely not intention of sailing somewhere but they make good videos that tell a decent story. We have quite a few that we’ve started watching and then ditched after a few episodes because they don’t tell a good story and trying to clickbait monetise it without a clue. Others who we don’t watch much of but will dip in when something looks interesting.

Sam Sails Sam Sails

Not a blue water type - yet - but have followed him for a while from his Hurley 22 days through the improvements and now sailing Nicholson 32.
I agree, i like his style, old cool boat . Boated out is a good watch also, lots of north sea chop in a Copland Harrier 20, Ollie is intrepid crossing the north sea in it. I like smaller boats on a budget, he does lots of technical instruction stuff also, good sailor.
