If you could pick any boat to replace your own, with consideration to berthing, fuel and possible crew costs, what would it be?

My list :-

Pershing 88
Princess 23m
Leopard 27m
Sunseeker 105 Yacht

Of course in 3 years I could be selling the Big Issue on Torquay seafront /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Think I'd just stick to my P35 with perhaps a couple of new cummins 300's and maybe a bit more reupholstry, perhaps a new outboard for the dinghy, but I cant really fault the one it's got. Oh and the beds getting a bit lumpy, so maybe a new matteress. Maybe a new cooker, but at 350 squid or there abouts, is it worth the bother?? Naa It's perfectly ok as it is.

PS.

No interest in selling the big issue.../forums/images/icons/smile.gif

<hr width=100% size=1>deborah on delft.

Azimut 86s instead of the pershing 88
Ferretti 830 instead of p23m
Leopard 27m, yep
Lots of things instead of 105 sunseeker, eg a nice baglietto, Mangusta 105s (new shape), benetti classic

I think my criteria are different from many on this forum - I'm single, don't really want to entertain on my boat, would hate having a crew and want to be able to handle it alone (oooeerr!). Thus:

Botnia Targa 31 with 2xD6 350's
Sunseeker Portofino 35 as above
Hardy Commodore 36 2x440 Yanmar

All these thingies are far to big for any fun. Need a boat small enough to hook in to little harbours, yet comfortable enough and equipment enough to survive on there own. Bigger is just more crappier...IMHO.. Who wants more than two folks on a boat anyway. The rest only create problems. If I wanted a boat with a crew a crew I'll go Red Funnel /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: lep 27

sorry, but i reckon that this is crap drive. yeah, there's crew, but at the helm you are effectively indoors all the time under windscreen, with sunroof miles behind, no wind in hair etc. Same wiv prinnyV65 but worse cos you have to sit down to get in. Though all leps have excellent erm "arse presence" when moored stern-to.

You could manage any of those boats two handed almost 100% of the time. And in the dreamworld of magnum, rent some peeps to tidy up afterwards. Anyway where do you keep your compact little boat? Blimmin Plymouth!!

late substitution

Yes ok withdraw the lep 27. Not a bad looker tho, took this in August as it was passing south of the islands, heading for Cap D'Antibes. Some arse presence at 30kts too?

Can I substitute the Palmer Johnson, "Cover Drive" please? Just on market, available now. Only 3 in the world of this 120 foot version. Also available in 90 foot version (only one so far)

Re: late substitution

I'll allow it, esp as the silver L27's have four cabins down below, no saloon and all in totally black wood! Black! Bit like a Laserquest with carpets. I think that one is called summinka bit african or occultish liek zambowange or perhaps has lots of x's in the name....

The PJ looks good. Fairly tiny flybridge must be for people who really only like driving MGB roadsters, fiddling with the sat whilst on the move and blowing their eardrums out with the horn PRARP! ow...

That PJ is one hell of a gorgeous thing. Never heard of them though. Are they expensive? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Re: late substitution

ooh yes, no problem there, they are wonderfully expensive. PJ is proper boatbuilding yard. But the dollar is cheap at the moment so i wd've thought that they might be merely expensive rather than mindlblowing. Not sure about the interiors in yank boats tho, which sometimes are ghastly, at other times merely nasty. Praps jfm has more pics from his extensive library?

If I could afford to run / berth it an Azimut 68.
As I cant afford the above probably stick with what I have cos the wife, daughter and I quite like it. From my experience no matter what you have someone has better, therefore enjoy whats yours......./forums/images/icons/smile.gif
Ian

ps
Still want an Azimut though and anyone who has one is a GIT. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

What No wood! It is horrible, ideal for a jelly mould i suppose. Sorry i don't like it, my vote 2 out 10 for a new bath tub design.
