Re: late substitution

I asked myself this question 2 years ago and decided on a different tack altogether. After much research and talking to a pal who owns an huge Italian thingy and keeps it in Mallorca, who reckoned that no matter how big your boat,it is still akin to sleeping in a caravan, I decided to buy a competent boat costing £200K and a 4 bed house on the coast. The boat has probably lost 20% of its value where the house (costing £400K) has nearly doubled in value.
We get all the pleasure from boating we could ever want, cruising the West Country, hops across the Chanel , nights on board with up to 6 people, but best of all sitting in the lounge with the central heating on looking out of the window at the boats in the marina bobbing up and down like corks.
Running costs dont send a shiver down my spine either, work on £15K all in for a year and i am still well in profit.

PJ is a longstanding US builder, wisconsin and savannah. Most of their range is more "ordinary" trideckers, and stuff that competes in Hatteras space, must less wow wee styling than Cover Drive.

I haven't seen them close up inside so dont know the quality. Possibly a bit average, they dont have a Feadshippy reputation or anything. Cover Drive has aluminium hull, and the inside looks ok ish in pics, middle of road style wise

PJ has been in/out bankruptcy various times. The owner of Cover Drive is the cricketer Tim Mohammed and he had the boat on order when they hit bankruptcy and he forgave a $1m deloisit loan or something in return for ownership of the PJ brand name. Then the business was bought out, maybe with some other invesotrs too. So he ordered a boat and ended up with the company

Cover Drive came to the med early this year. Was moored in Nice harbour just past the Moorings quay all summer, was at cannes and monaco show. Looks beautiful in the flesh, except for the ugh horrible red-lead colour boot top, which makes it look like her bottom is antifouled in commercial ship antifoul when she is stationary. But I'm sure that can be fixed :)

Asking price euros 12mill, low mileage

PS sorry, I seem to have made this thread stretch to the right, but I'm out of time to edit my offending post above
