Re: late substitution
I asked myself this question 2 years ago and decided on a different tack altogether. After much research and talking to a pal who owns an huge Italian thingy and keeps it in Mallorca, who reckoned that no matter how big your boat,it is still akin to sleeping in a caravan, I decided to buy a competent boat costing £200K and a 4 bed house on the coast. The boat has probably lost 20% of its value where the house (costing £400K) has nearly doubled in value.
We get all the pleasure from boating we could ever want, cruising the West Country, hops across the Chanel , nights on board with up to 6 people, but best of all sitting in the lounge with the central heating on looking out of the window at the boats in the marina bobbing up and down like corks.
Running costs dont send a shiver down my spine either, work on £15K all in for a year and i am still well in profit.
