Yet another underwater light thread

Sorry in advance if this has been answered before and I missed it ... and I've never owned a mobo but hope to someday, but why does one need underwater lights?

The answer is that you don't NEED them. It's just that some people think they are nice and add a certain ambiance.

Others, notably the grumpy old sea dogs :p, think they are naff.

Lots of posters think it's a good idea so I wonered why. Perhaps I'm expecting too much.
There's no actual point in having u/w lights any more than there's any point to boating or indeed life itself. They're just a bit of fun. In my case, I suppose I can rationalise it by saying I'd rather know whats in the water before I dive in for a late night swim especially if there are jellyfish about. Also I have been known to forget where I've anchored my boat after a bottle or 3 of vino collapso on shore and drive around aimlessly in my dinghy looking for it so the u/w lights will be a beacon to guide me home. So there you are; u/w lights are an indispensable item of safety equipment and every boat should have them, especially the Lumishore variety

Hang on.. I thought they come on when you go into reverse, especially stern-to mooring when a crowd was watching, sync'd with Phil Collins on drums, letting the masses know you have arrived?

My u/w lights will come on automatically when its foggy and blind any yottie following behind:)

It's just an excuse to justify the cost to swimbo Mike.

Why not leave the saloon lights on and maybe draw the curtains.

Come on, admit it, all you Bling Queens are big kids at heart.

We've a large Italian raggie in our marina who does similar things.

Must admit it does give folks pleasure and they are nice guys. (For Raggies)

I don't have a MOBO but a sail boat.
I have just been given a present of 3 not 'under water lights' but 'under boom lights'.
Mount to the underside of the boom to illuminate the cockpit. These are LED lights mounted into some alloy section. I'll post a picture once fitted.

Now I can see the point of those!!!!!!:D:D:D

Mike i think, as others have said, you should fit 4. The one under the sternthruster aint right imho. You sure you don't want to get colour changers while you have the chance? Even if you dont want all the colours, the cyan (that you can mix with the colour changers) is nicer than the white or blue for night swims

I'm going to fit 2 to start with and then see how effective they are and yes I'll probably end up fitting another 2 later in the season or changing altogether to colour change models. Unfortunately I've already shipped the lights to Italy so getting them back and replacing them will be a pain and probably delay my relaunch.

LOL

Thank you. You have put them in context perfectly. i shall order some immediately.

Are these things the same as the neons that the local yobs put underneath the underpowered over exhausted euro boxes?

Tom said it all for me. :(

Can I interest you guys in some medallions & chest wigs while you're at it? I also have a nice line in tattoos, prince alberts & vagazzles.

You've got a nerve, tee hee, cheek to slag off underwater lights and then come on here trying to peddle "Vagazzles" never heard of that, in fact had to google, I might even report you to the mods... Bet you don't post items like that on the raggie forum

They don't post about underpants lights either. That's why I come here for the entertainment.

Bit More Bling

Spotted this blingathon line up of Fairlines imitating Odeon Cinemas at Ipswich this week :) :)

Personally I think it looks a bit tacky, but hey it is harmless fun though :)

Apologies for the phone camera pic
