seems a shame. All the effort and no-one turned up.
Perhaps fun-fairs are losing popularity.

Mike, i'd place them lower rather than higher. When the boat pitches in a swell at anchor you ideally don't want them coming out of the water, as that actually is slightly anti-social because it's night blinding for people sitting in the cockpits of neighbouring boats. Not a big issue of course, but I can't see any big downsides to mounting them lower.

I'm also planning to fit some, but i'm only fitting two as that's all I want.

Fair point

To address Nick's point you could easily wire the outer pair to be separately switchable.
For the full blingtastic effect:) I'm going to try 2 and see how they go. Whilst 4 lights might illuminate the babes on the boat next door, they will also illuminate my less than lithe silhouette in the water so maybe 2 discrete lights are better

I would also consider fitting the second pair on the hull, pointing to the sea bottom.
Installation might be a bit more complicated, because you should probably make a recess to fit them level, rather than sticking out, but the effect would definitely be great, particularly when anchored in shallow and clear water - which is quite typical in Croatia.

You probably will end up fitting the colour change type, I fitted three at the back and one either side ... Works well ! Will look out some photo's when I get a min. Sorry Searush I know how you LOVE this subject ! :p

Mike, Here you go ........ Three at the rear and one each side the effect on the water is good ........

Unfortunately not at the moment :( I did have some but I lost the camera or rather had it pinched ....Hopefully within the next few weeks I will get back out there and get some more... (I do have similar ones showing all the different colours...)

Work is an inconvenience at the moment !!!!:p

I don't have a MOBO but a sail boat.
I have just been given a present of 3 not 'under water lights' but 'under boom lights'.
Mount to the underside of the boom to illuminate the cockpit. These are LED lights mounted into some alloy section. I'll post a picture once fitted.

Under boom lights now fitted. Illumination of cockpit is excellent.

maybe, I've no reason to object, BUT would be v.nice to have some evening/night photos instead of beautiful blue skies!

and on a more serious note, do the LEDs have heatsinks or are they mounted straight on the alloy plate?

cheers

V.

Having read through this thread I think we are definitely in need of a separate old farts forum, where they can mutter to each other about underwater lights, speed boats and swap tips on hemorrhoid creams.

I'd join but I love my bow thruster. (And stern thruster.)

Could you consider a rule change please?
