Housing in Southern Europe is quite good value compared to the UK.

We move the elderly to somewhere sunny. If they sell up here there money will go further, if they are poorish the benefit goes further. No heating bills, nobody, well not that they understand anyway, trying to pester them to change energy supplier. The family will come to visit because it's a free holiday. The oldy will be able to find dentists and doctors, yes they may sound funny but old folks only hear what they want to hear at the doctors, old folks are used to their medics having limited english.

The homeless move into the surpless UK housing freed up by the grey exodus. This leaves us with a UK network of old folks homes, or care homes as they laughingly call them. Here we will continue the regime but the clients will be prisoners. A typical day will revolve around early rising, being sat in rows around the edge of a room that can be seen plainly, from the local comprehensive. A TV will be playing all day with the sound off. All staff will ignore the inmates. Here I'd change just one thing. Cream cakes would be free and plentyful. I like the idea of fat, unfit convicts better than lean and toned hard men.

So there you have it. Old folks having their day in the sun. The homeless housed. Criminals turned into couch potatoes. I commend this plan to the house.

Already been thought of....Except that India was the destination. Just think what the old folks could afford in terms of care and facilities in say Goa, for the equity in their three bed semi!

Additional benifits would be that one would be looked after by people who still actualy know how to care for elderly familly members!

All best nick
