Wouldn't be without. Easily updated - charts are readily available. Its not high-tech as mine is linked to an old Garmin 100.

Will take any type of map - OS etc so is not dependant on being able to get your hands on electronic gizmos.

Mine cam with the boat. Within half an hour I was fully conversant with what it does.

Only grouse is that the chart can move against the backing and you have to reformat it . Does anyone have a better system for keeping the chart in place?? Plastic clips are crap.

Being a seller of door closers I have Stainless Steel door closer fitted to a plastic clamping piece on mine. I can't claim the idea was mine though. I pinched it from a Lifeboat when I saw it at an open day.

If a Yeoman was good enough for them I figured it was good enough for me.

I can sell you the particular door closers for a grossly inflated price though & I am the UK distributor for the one I used.

It's difficult to stop the chart moving.

Mark the 3 chart datum points on the Yeoman sleeve and you can a) see it's moved, and b) easily reposition without having to re-reference.

Our Yeoman is mounted under a perspex top screwed to the nav table, with the English Channel chart in place as well. You can plot on the perspex with a normal pencil, I rubbed it down to matt the surface with fine wet & dry. Other charts are put on top of the perspex using the plastic clips which are simply stuck to the perspex where required using Bluetack (the removeable stuff), but with a thin sheet of the non-slip stuff between chart and perspex as well, also one edge of the chart is butted up against the Yeoman box bit. Works well for me.

Grossly inflated prices are what I expect to pay. It is for the boat after all.

If you would like to see the type I used go to "http://www.chasmood.com/archi-others.htm" Sorry I cant do the link. The item top left is the one plus a few mods.

Of course our prices are not inflated at all. We are really so cheap I'm finding it hard to stay in business.
