One of my two Yanmar 3JH3E (catamaran) has a wiring loom which can best be described as a 'rats nest' and as a result very little of the systems attached to it work correctly. This situation has been created because the port engine has an extension cable because of the distance to the engine. Over the six years that the boat was originally in charter the connection to the extension cable clearly had numerous problems in the past and a variety of additional wires have been sliced in, bypassing the connector as well as other bits of cable directly from the extension lead to engine components.

I first inquired into the cost of a replacement harness and extension but at around £500 its a bit steep for just cables. I intend to cut the plug off the extension cable and terminate that into a box using a terminal strip and then make a new harness up to go back to that terminal strip.

Does anyone have an idea of the cable sizes required. There appear to be three larger ones which I assume is the positive and negative from the battery?
