Yanmar MARINE TRANSMISSION

Look for a label on the back of it. Many Yanmar engines are supplied with Kanzaki gearboxes. As far as I can tell Kanzaki is owned or controlled by Yanmar, so effectively a Kanzaki transmission is a Yanmar one.

It may be that the operating shaft is seized in the bearing. Removing the oil seal and applying release oil and a little gentle heat will enable you to break the seal between the shaft and the bearing without removing the gearbox.

Oh well, sounds as if you'll just have to get stuck in then. Fortunately the boxes aren't complicated. You will probably have to remove the engine and gearbox to split them though. If my 1GM10 is anything to judge by, the biggest headache will be undoing the nut holding the drive flange. It may be done up with a torque wrench when new, but mine was well rusted in too.
