can't say i'm totally au fait with the engine but the mountings should be one of a standard type. take the unit to LSUK (lucas service) ask them, they may be able to supply repair parts for yours.

good luck, steve.

This engine comes with different types 55 AMPS 35AMPS and sometimes 80 Amps. Normally they use Hitachi. However if high output is not a concern any double foot car type alt would do (saves a lot of money). Just check the width between the feet, since there are two types short and long base. If I recall correctly it should be the 3.15 inch type but better re-measure.

Have you got a new 3GM30 with the new style internal fan alternator?

If so PM me as it is barely usuable on a yacht and I am also trying to get a replacement

Otherwise possibles are Lucas A127 or a Prestolite Unit. Both need some changes to the bracketry, suggest you talk to adverc

The standard is an Hitachi 55 amp, which is a little inadequate on a cruising yacht.

I'd steer well clear of Lucas Service - they consider yotties a benign licence to charge the earth.

Any 3 foot alternator will substitute - it's really where you can get one cheapest.

Adverc do supply 70 amp Lucas or 100 amp Prestolite at very good price, give good pre- and after- sales support, but carriage might put prices up to you.

Try local auto-electrical from Yellow Pages, you should be able to get a replacement auto alternator for about £80 and a marine one (better choice) for about £120.
You could also try having yours reconditioned - cost about £40 unless fields or comm has gone.

Failing that phone 01902 380494 and speak to Trevor, Brian or Michael.
Of course if you're within easy travel distance of Wolverhampton go there and collect without bothering to use Yellow Pages.
